Is it me or OS GIS is far too complicated to install in ubuntu?
Why I am sayingis because I am trying to install in my new ubuntu but I find it very hard to do it?
What am I doing wrong?
Is there any website with easy steps to follow and install OS GIS?
yes there are some problems but there are plenty of forums out there they can help you. Which OS GIS is it? Is it GRASS? Because usually it is quite easy to install it and their website it has a details. Call me and we can see what to do.
You See, George. I have ubuntu on my laptop and I am trying to install OS GIS like:
Postgresql/PostGIS : a relational database with vector spatial data handling
GRASS : A full blown GIS analysis toolset
Quantum GIS: A user-friendly graphical GIS application
GDAL, Proj, Geos : Libraries and utilities for processing spatial data
Mapserver : web mapping program and utilites
Python bindings for QGIS, mapserver and GDAL
R : a high-end statistics package with spatial capabilities
GMT : the Generic Mapping Tools for automated high-quality map output
and I find it quite hard to do it.
Most of the times I am getting errors during the installation.
ps. I want to explore the OS GIS and play with them.
However, I still believe that I should focus and expant my skills in C#.Net and ArcObjects. I am getting there though :-!
gvSIG [1] is very easy…download binaries and install…

I have to admit that gvsig software is indeed very good and simple to use. I have already seen it in action! Thanks for the link.
